Introduction
At the end of this article, you will be able to hide your caller ID permanently or temporarily. Should you need any assistance, feel free to contact our support department.
In the PBX, Caller IDs can be set on both Users and Devices. If you have set caller IDs to both of these, you will need to remove the settings on both before your calls will be private.
Setting no caller ID on users
Once you have logged into your customer portal, you will need to select the PBX tab and locate the user you wish to withhold the caller ID on. Click the gear icon on the user and remove the number in the caller ID field by selecting the active number in the drop down list. You will then need to select save and Apply Configuration. All devices that are associated with this user will now display no caller ID information when outbound calls are placed.
Setting no caller ID on SIP devices
Select the PBX tab, click on Devices in the top bar of the portal and locate the SIP device you wish to withhold the caller ID for. Press the Advanced Parameters button and remove the number in the caller ID field by selecting it in the drop-down box. When done, select Save and press Apply Configuration. This SIP device will now display no caller ID information when outbound calls are placed.
Temporary blocking caller ID per call
Should you wish to hide your caller ID on a single call basis you should add a special prefix in front of the number before dialling. For customers hosted on our Australian network, you should add the prefix 1831, for New Zealand 0197 and 1471 for the UK. An example of calling an Australian mobile can be seen in the screenshot below.
You also have the ability to change your caller ID from the webphone: selecting Anonymous will prevent your calls from showing a number.
